Inside Läka Spa: The Complete Guide to Nordic Wellness at Hotel Landing

Lake Minnetonka has a particular stillness in the early morning, a quietness that settles over the water before the day takes hold, something that Läka Spa at The Hotel Landing taps into deliberately. Situated on the Wayzata waterfront — 15 miles from Minneapolis, close enough to reach on a whim, far enough to feel like you’ve left the city behind — the spa takes its name from the Swedish word for “to heal”. Every decision made here, from locally inspired treatments to the floor-to-ceiling windows framing a canopy of green, traces back to the same conviction: that genuine restoration starts with where you are.

A Philosophy That Begins Outside

The Nordic wellness tradition runs deeper than cold plunges and minimalist interiors. At its core is a conviction that the body and the natural world are not separate systems — that genuine restoration requires engaging with both. In Scandinavia, that relationship has been shaped by necessity as much as philosophy: long winters, demanding climates, and a cultural instinct toward simplicity that strips wellness back to what actually works.

Läka draws on this practice that has been refined over centuries, incorporating the body, cold, steam, and the surrounding landscape. It translates well to the edge of Lake Minnetonka, where the climate is genuinely demanding enough that the philosophy earns its keep. Minnesota winters are long. The need for deliberate, restorative warmth is real.

The spa comprises two single treatment rooms, a dedicated couples treatment room, and a relaxation room — each designed so that the boundary between treatment and landscape softens. Floor-to-ceiling windows draw the tree canopy in across all the spaces; outside becomes part of the room, not a view from it.

The Harmonic Couples Package moves through an aromatherapy steam shower, a tailored facial, and a customised massage — 150 minutes that feel like a complete cohesive arc. A dining selection from Belle & Grey’s in-spa menu is included, so the transition back to the day happens at your own pace.

The Signature Treatments

The Natur Healing Massage (80 minutes) opens with an aromatherapy steam shower — a ritual that both prepares your body and signals the shift from wherever you were to where you are now. In Nordic tradition, too, heat has always come before treatment — opening the body, releasing tension, letting the work that follows go deeper. The custom massage that follows reduces stress, boosts immune function, and eases physical discomfort across the full body.

The Nordic Radiance Facial (80 minutes) is designed for skin that has been worked hard by weather, stress, or simply time. The treatment accelerates cellular respiration — essentially encouraging the skin to breathe and regenerate at a deeper level than topical products can reach. Overstressed skin returns to life through increased collagen production and a rebuilt moisture barrier. You’ll notice a visible difference in luminosity afterward; this isn’t the kind of facial that requires weeks to see results.

The Harmonic Couples Package (150 minutes) is the most expansive offering on the menu, moving from a tailored facial to a customized massage to an aromatherapy steam shower— two and a half hours that feel like a complete cohesive arc. A nice finishing touch: the package includes a selection from Belle & Grey‘s in-spa dining menu, so the transition back to the day happens at your own pace, with something good to eat.

The Natur Renewal package brings it all together — a 25-minute steam shower, followed by the 80-minute Natur Healing Massage and a 50-minute Nordic Radiance Facial, with a dining credit at Belle & Grey included.

Staying Over: Our Wellness Suites

The spa experience extends into the rooms themselves. Hotel Landing‘s Wellness Suites are designed around the same principles as Läka — natural light, abundant windows, and enough space to restore properly. The suites and their wellness amenities complement the restoration after the complete treatment. For anyone travelling from the city for a full day, it makes more sense to stay than to leave.

Each suite includes a cedar-lined private infrared sauna and a Peloton bike — the kind of additions that don’t feel like extras once you’ve used them. The infrared heat works quietly on the body: easing tension, softening the effects of travel, and leaving you feeling genuinely revitalized by the time the evening settles in. Whether that means an early morning ride before breakfast or a quiet sauna session after dinner, the suite is set up for however you want the day to go.

More Than A Spa Day

Lake Minnetonka waterfront scene in Wayzata

A spa day here has a natural shape to it: arrive from the city, let the lake set the pace, and leave when you’re ready. Cruiser bicycles are available for guests who want to follow the lakefront trail at their own pace. Near Wayzata Beach, Adirondack chairs are arranged beneath shade trees for anyone who simply wants to sit and soak in the calm. Downtown Wayzata is a short walk away — boutiques, al fresco dining, a clock tower, the kind of small-town waterfront that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard. In summer, the marina hums with activity; in the quieter months, the lake has a stillness that the town reflects back.

Urban street with brick storefronts, outdoor seating, and a river view under a blue sky.

Before your treatment, simply walk the waterfront and allow nature to do its work before you head inside and let us take it from there. Afterwards, the unhurried rhythm of Wayzata makes the transition back to the world a gradual one.
